What is FarmGolf?

FarmGolf was invented in a small, rural community in West Virginia in the year 2000.  It is golf on a reduced scale in one's backyard using only 3 clubs instead of 14 clubs.  A game where the longest shot, depending on skill level, is typically 150 yards.

The clubs allowed in FarmGolf are irons and/or a putter.  Most FarmGolfers use a long iron, a short iron and a putter.  A few individuals use three irons, with the long iron doubling as the putter.  The reasons that drivers and woods have been disallowed in this game are so smaller land tracts can be developed into an overall course, and the potential for hitting your residence or adjacent structures is greatly reduced.

The original FarmGolf course is located on WV State Route 92 in Barbour County and covers approximately six (6) acres.    There are six holes on the course ranging from 89 yards to 250 yards.  Par for the six-hole course is 22.  Greens are much smaller than those found on a normal golf course, with a diameter of approximately 25 feet being typical.  A central water distribution system allows for the watering of all greens and areas immediately adjacent to the greens.  Maintenance is performed by a 72-inch Gravely mower and a 62-inch Jacobsen riding greens mower.

Recently completed expansion of the course included the addition of three (3) sand traps, enlargement of several greens and the construction of three (3) additional ponds.

Tour the website and if you're interested, we can help you install your very own FarmGolf course with all the amenities.  See how you can own a private golf course in your backyard for the cost of a single lot in the typical golf subdivision.
