FarmGolf Wellness Report - Issue No. 2

THE
Wellness
Report
Submitted by FarmGolf Head Nurse, Deb Hamerski    www.farmgolf.com    Issue No. 2 - April 29, 2008

On April 13th, FarmGolfers braved the showers and windy conditions wearing rain repellent jackets and toboggans. Only a few of the golfers were unable to complete the course. No reports of colds or athlete's feet to date.

Inside the Clubhouse, the female FarmGolf members were asked to submit suggestions for wellness projects that could be implemented at FarmGolf this season.

Kelly Hawkins suggested a birthing center be opened in the club house. She felt being born in the club house would be a great way for her new son to begin his life and that Moe would be excited about the prospect of avoiding a hospital delivery.  It was discussed and voted down due to the fact that most of the female FarmGolfers are not planning to need these services in the near or distant future.  We did offer the Clubhouse as a baptism site for the infant.

NOTE:  The FarmGolf Wellness Report is presented as a public health service of FarmGolf.

Rachel Domenico suggested prostate cancer screening be offered to the golfers. This was seconded immediately by FarmGolf photographer Tiffani Green, who recalls many times over the past seasons that several of the golfers have been more than happy to expose their bottoms to other FarmGolf attendees.

Marianne Smith agreed it would be a hit with the guys and could possibly channel some of that energy in a positive direction.

Pamphlets will be designed and available at some point this season. Information will include symptoms of prostate cancer, who is most at risk, and nutritional guides to prevention. Screening will be available and will include a blood test, PSA (prostatic specific antigen) as well as DRE (digital rectal exam). The date for the screening will be announced at a later date.
